The Magic Misfits
Neil Patrick Harris
Much better than I was anticipating. I enjoyed their explanation of real magic, which I will not spoil here. You'll have to read it for yourself. It is worth the time.

Whew, I liked this book a lot. It's a genre bending horror fantasy book with sapphic elements and magic. LOVED it.

Prince's Gambit
C. S. Pacat
The pacing in this one was tough. I hear this is the weakest book because it's so much build-up along with SO. MUCH. ARMY. DETAIL. If I never read about encampments again, I'll be happy. Still, the main characters finally hook up in the last 100 or so pages, so slog through it, it's worth it.

Captive Prince
C. S. Pacat
Incredible world-building and engaging subject. Kind of a tease as this is an enemy-to-lovers gay romance, but by the end of the first book, there is very little in the way of lovers and much more about enemies. Still, it made me want to move on to the second book. The strength of this book lies primarily in its portrayal of courtly politics and character development. Enjoyable summer read!
